Dr. Ahmad Al-Kabbabny is an impassioned researcher, determined to adapt technology, art, and science for the good of the people. He is the founder of VRapeutic, a software startup specializing in the development of therapeutic AI-enabled virtual reality solutions, with a current focus on learning difficulties and developmental disorders. He has led VRapeutic to several regional recognitions, including the 1st place of the Global Impact Challenge 2019, organized by Singularity University in California. In 2016, Ahmad received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in Canada, where he received two research awards and two scholarships. His research focused on the enhancement of user experience in image-based virtual environments. One of the algorithms that he contributed during his PhD was ranked, at the time, among the best eight techniques worldwide according to a standard benchmark in the respective field.
Prof. Dr. Dalia Mostafa has been working in the field of speech and language pathology for more than twenty-four years. She is a Professor of Phoniatrics at Otolaryngology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. She holds a Bachelor degree of Medicine & Surgery, a Master Degree of Phoniatrics & a Medical Doctor Degree in Phoniatrics. Dr. Dalia has been awarded the Certificate of Clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-SLP), USA. She is also a member of the Hanen Program in Canada. Dr. Dalia is the author of REAL Scale (Receptive Expressive Arabic Language Scale), ACB (Arabic Curriculum Builder), Hearing Intervention Program from A to Z, A Proficient Preschooler Language Evaluation Tool (APPLE Tool), Verbal Praxis Kit and Arabic Language Training Levels. Dr. Dalia was granted the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from the Continuing Education Board of the American-Speech-Language Hearing Association, twice in 2014 and 2018.
Dalia Wagdy is a Speech and Language Therapist with more than twenty years experience in administrating, planning and diagnosing speech therapy difficulties in children with autism and other developmental disabilities. She also is experienced in assessing and setting Individual Educational Plans for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Dalia graduated with a BA in Phonetics and Linguistics from University of Alexandria. She earned the leader certificate from ‘You Make the Difference’ in 2011, and the BCaBA certification in 2016. Currently completing her masters in ABA at Mary Baldwin University, Virginia. Dalia started her career as a Speech and Language Therapist in Alexandria before moving to Kuwait for three years. She joined the Learning Resources Center (LRC) in 2003 as Bilingual SLT and Verbal Behavior Implementer, then became the Coordinator of The Intensive Communication Program in 2008, and later headed the ABA Department in 2011. In 2018, Dalia co-founded the Skills for Child and Parent Support Center, and is its Clinical Director
Dina Yassin has a B.A. in Psychology from The American University in Cairo in 2005 and an M.A. from University College London in Special & Inclusive Education in 2011. Since then, Dina has been working in the field of Special and Inclusive Education as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for students with disabilities at Misr Language Schools. More recently, Dina has taken on the role of the School Educational Psychologist where she extends her services to struggling students in the mainstream classrooms. Moreover, she conducts workshops to teachers and specialists in the field of special & inclusive education. based interventions will be discussed.
Dominique Gygax has an M.A. Special & Inclusive Ed. and was part of the Learning Resource Center team for 20 years where she taught and ran workshops, courses, and carried out academic evaluations. Dominique addressed and contributed to remediating a wide variety of language-based, mathematical, attention, motor and emotional disorders. She co-founded a foundation in Indonesia where she has been acting as consultant for the last 10 years. The foundation focuses on helping poor and marginalized youth with the objective of empowering them and helping them one by one, to build a better and brighter future, irrespective of their recognized skills and abilities and with an inclusive approach.
Gill Brackenbury has a B. Ed from Manchester University and an M.A. in Psychology and Education of Children with Special Educational Needs from the Institute of Education, University of London. Her teaching career began in 1974 when she taught primary and secondary school children in mainstream schools and later was head of a unit for children with severe mental and physical difficulties. She was also a peripatetic support teacher and adviser of children with dyslexia for a London Education Authority. Her area of particular interest is dyslexia She is now a Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Human Development at the Institute of Education, University College London and an Open University Associate Lecturer on the Masters module on Literacy Difficulties. She is currently involved in a research project looking at whether teaching assistants can successfully teach children struggling with literacy. Recently she became the Outreach Coordinator of SENJIT (Special Educational Needs Joint Initiative Training) where she oversees the running of accredited courses in London and the surrounding authorities.
Hadeel Mahmoud (M.A) studied Psychology at LAU Beirut and pursued her Master’s degree in Special Education from the same university. Her emphasis is on school related problems, behavior modification and counseling. She has work experience with children with Autism, ADHD, behavioral problems and learning disorders and with their families. Currently, she is working as a counseling psychologist at the LRC in Cairo.
Dr. Jasmine El-Domyati received a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2017 from the New York Institute of Technology, School of Health of Professions and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from the New York Institute of Technology in 2014. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree at George Washington University and is expected to graduate in May, 2019. She has worked in different clinical areas including pediatrics, mental health and neurological disorders. Her current research interests include sensory dysfunction, occupational deprivation, and visual perceptual rehabilitation.
Prof. Julie Dockrell is a professor of psychology and special needs at the Institute of Education, University College London. She trained as a clinical and educational psychologist and has worked with children who have language and communication difficulties for over 25 years. She continues to do work in schools and collaborate with voluntary agencies supporting children with special educational needs. Her major research interests are in patterns of development and the ways in which developmental difficulties impact on children's learning, interaction and attainments. She has a special research interest in vocabulary learning and the ways in which vocabulary knowledge underpins educational attainments. A central theme in this research has been the application of evidence based research and evaluating interventions to support children with language and communication needs in educational settings. The talking time intervention, implemented and evaluated in a London borough, is currently being used to inform development of the CLLD programme for the national strategies. She was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the RCSLTs and is an Academician of the Social Sciences.
Karima Marei has a B.A. in Psychology from the American University in Cairo and an M.Ed. in Education with a focus on Special Education and Behavioural Disorders from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. She has been working in the field of special education since 1999, when she joined the Learning Resource Center as an intern, and worked there until 2013. At the LRC, she tutored and assessed children with a variety of learning needs, consulted for schools, completed school observations and was part of a multi-disciplinary team that worked towards helping students with Learning Difficulties. She joined the Curriculum Support department at the British International School of Cairo (BISC) in September of 2015. Karima is most passionate about figuring out what holds a child back, and what barriers are hindering their progress, as well as, helping students with reading difficulties become successful, confident readers.
Dr. Lamyaa El Toukhy is a Neuro-Psychiatrist Specialist with profound interest in psychiatry. She has been practicing psychiatry since 2013 with a special interest in addiction medicine. Dr. El Toukhy has graduated from Ain Shams University in 2011 and received her Master degree in Neuropsychiatry in 2016 from Ain shams University. She used to work as a resident in the Institute of Psychiatry in Ain Shams University Hospitals and Abbasia Psychiatric Hospital. She is currently an Assistant Lecturer in New Giza University and a Mental Health Specialist at Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha’s Resort.
Dr. Maie Hilmy is a Consultant of Psychiatry with a special interest in Women Mental Health and Adolescents. She is a member and one of the founders of the World Association of Young Psychiatrists and Trainees (WAYPT), a branch of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), which was founded in 2005. Dr. Hilmy has had extensive training and experience in both pharmacotherapy and different forms of psychotherapy. She had been part of a project on promoting the mental health of street children funded by the UNICEF, not only as a psychiatrist but also as a trainer for personnel (social workers and psychologists) dealing with street children. She is now a lecturer of Mental Health and Clinical Communication at New Giza University (NGU).
Dr. Mostafa Shohdy is a specialized Neuro-Psychiatrist for adults, adolescents and children. He has been working since 2013 as a psychiatrist and since 2017 as assistant lecturer in the School of Medicine New Giza University. He acquired his Bachelor Degree in Surgery and Medicine in December 2011 Faculty of Medicine from Cairo University and his MSc of Neurology and Psychiatry from Ain Shams University in 2016. He is also working on his MD of Psychiatry since 2017.
Dr. Rehab Zaytoun is a medical doctor with a Medical Doctorate in Phoniatrics. She graduated Cairo University, medical school in 2005. She received her Masters degree in Communication, Swallowing and Voice disorders in 2011 followed by her Medical Doctorate in 2015 from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. Rehab is currently a lecturer of Phoniatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Fayoum University. She is also a member of Hanen Society, Canada. Rehab is currently the head of the Speech and Language department at the Learning Resource Center (LRC), Cairo. She owns CliniCare private practice in Cairo where she serves children and adults with different communication and feeding difficulties. Rehab is the Speech Language, Feeding and Oral Placement Therapy Consultant at ABLE UK and Dubai. Rehab is a regular speaker at the local and international Phoniatrics, ENT and Pediatrics conferences.
Dr. Safy Zein is a consultant of Physical Therapy and Head of Sensory-Motor Department at the Learning Resource Center. He graduated from the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University in 1977, joined the teaching Faculty at the Pediatrics Department until 1982 when he moved to the United States of America and obtained the Physical Therapy Board license at the same year. His graduate study was in Developmental Disabilities at New York University and worked as a consultant to several developmental centers at New Jersey and New York states. He returned back to Egypt in 1998 and joined the team of consultants at the Learning Resource Center and the ADVANCE Society to date. He has completed a Comprehensive Program in Sensory Integration Theory given by the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services
Dr. Sahar Daoud earned a M.Sc. in Applied Psychology of Mental Health Disorders from Liverpool University, England in March 2016. She completed her Doctorate Degree in Liaison Pediatric Psychiatry for children with Special Needs from Ain Shams University in December 2013. She earned a M.Sc. Pediatrics from Ain Shams University in 2006. Sahar joined the Learning Resource Center in May, 2007. She conducts Neuro-Developmental Assessments for children with behavior and/or developmental disorders. Sahar is certified from Hanen Center in England as a “You Make the Difference” program leader and she is certified to do Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule -2 assessment from WPS, USA. She is also a certified positive discipline parent educator and positive discipline classroom educator.
Shahira Abdel-rahman has been working with children with mild and severe disabilities every since she was in college. In 2015 she completed a Masters Degree in Special and Inclusive Education from the Institute of Education, UCL. She has been working at the Learning Resource Center since 2003 where she started as a tutor and assessor for children with Special Educational Needs. She, later, became a member of the team that is responsible for teacher training and course design at LRC’s Training Department. The department services a vast number of teachers and specialists across Egypt. She is now a freelance Special Education Consultant and lectures part-time at the British University in Egypt on reading and learning disabilities. Her specialty is in teaching mathematics as well as reading; she has given sessions and lectures on how to teach children with mathematical disabilities including dyscalculia and reading disabilities including dyslexia, as well as, on processing difficulties and learning disabilities.

الأستاذ/ محمد أحمد الحناوي حاصل على درجة الماجستير في التربية الخاصة في تعليم المهارات الأكاديمية للأطفال ذوي التوحد كلية التربية بجامعة عين شمس، ومرشح للحصول على درجة الدكتوراة في التربية الخاصة. يشغل حالياً منصب المدير التنفيذي للجمعية المصرية لتقدم الأشخاص ذوي الاعاقة والتوحد . ويعمل أ/ محمد في مجال الإعاقة كأخصائي تربية خاصة منذ قرابة 22 عاما، عمل خلالها في العديد من الجمعيات، ونشرت له العديد من الأوراق والأبحاث العلمية في مجالات التعليم الدمجي، صعوبات التعلم، والتوحد، مناهج وطرق التدريس للأشخاص ذوي الاعاقة، التقويم والقياس للأشخاص ذوي الاعاقة. كما قدم العديد من المحاضرات وورش العمل والدورات التدريبية في مصر والمنطقة العربية من خلال المركز المتميز للتدريب، ومركز الإرشاد النفسي لكلية التربية بجامعة عين شمس، ومركز الإرشاد النفسي بجامعة حلوان، والمركز القومي للبحوث. وقد أنشأ أ/ محمد المركز المتميز للتدريب في عام 2007، والذي يعمل في أكثر من 24 محافظة على مستوى جمهورية مصر العربية. كما قاد فريق تنظيم المؤتمرات التوعوية ضمن الحملة القومية للتوعية بالتوحد والتي تقودها الجمعية المصرية لتقدم الأشخاص ذوي الاعاقة والتوحد في مصر منذ عام 2005، وكذلك تنظيم المؤتمرات السنوية المعنية بصعوبات التعلم والدمج التعليمي في المدارس النظامية والتي تقيمها الجمعية منذ عام 2001
